Meet Mary Murphy-Nelson

Updated: Sep 21, 2020

Today we'd like to introduce you to Mary Murphy-Nelson

Current Location: Huntington Beach, Ca

Mary, before we jump into it, why don't you tell us a little about your story.

Started performing in High School in Detroit Michigan. Moved to California and started doing shows all over Southern California. Met Tim my husband doing a show, and well the rest is history!

Overall, has it been a rather smooth road? If not, what are some of the struggles you've experienced along the way?

I never really think of them as obstacles. I think of them as lessons.

Can you tell us about what you are currently working on?

I have retired from my day job and now enjoy gardening, reading, decorating. I do several shows a year at different venues.

Do you have an early childhood memory that you fondly remember?

Getting to play Agnes Gooch in Mame when I was a senior in High School.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

My proudest moment has been seeing my husband Tim Nelson turn the Rose Center Theater into a great theater. Many performers have found a home here.

The upcoming Virtual Revue you are performing in is titled TOGETHER. What role do you think the arts has played in unifying people?

I think the arts are universal. We need them to share are hopes and dreams.
